South LA is a majority-Medicaid community in a state with the 48th-worst provider reimbursement rate in the nation. At MLKCH, we’ve innovated to challenge and rebalance the payment model, attracting top medical professionals and ensuring that our community has access to high-quality care.

CHRONIC CONDITIONS

The most prevalent chronic conditions in South LA include COPD, congestive heart failure, high blood pressure and diabetes. A long-standing lack of access to care in this community has fostered a life expectancy that is ten years shorter and made diabetic amputation a top procedure at MLKCH.
