“Treat patients how you would want your family members to be treated. Listening to patients is essential. Try to remain hungry to learn.”

Welcome to the Internal Medicine Residency Program at MLK Community Healthcare! Joining this program means becoming part of a community that is as deeply rooted in compassion as it is in clinical excellence.

As the Assistant Program Director, my goal is to guide you on a transformative journey—one where the challenges of medicine intersect with the profound rewards of serving a vibrant and diverse community. Here at MLKCH, we don’t just train doctors; we train and empower advocates for health equity, as well as stewards of meaningful change in underserved communities.

What makes this program truly special is its focus on the intersection of medicine and humanity. Through our community health programs and innovative initiatives such as our state-certified Street Medicine department, you’ll be able to engage with patients where they are, addressing the factors that impact health far beyond our hospital’s walls. These experiences are not just part of your training—they will shape the core of who you become as a physician.

I am here to support you as you navigate this exciting and sometimes demanding phase of your career. Together, we will explore what it means to lead, to innovate and to build healthcare systems that work for everyone.

Welcome to MLKCH, where we are redefining what it means to care. I look forward to learning with you and from you as we grow together.

Warm regards,
