Sharon joined MLK Community Health Foundation in May 2022 as Director of Major Gifts. She is responsible for the growth and development of the Foundation’s major gifts program, seeking philanthropic support for MLKCH priorities that include inpatient and outpatient services, community programs, and population health initiatives.
Sharon brings 20 years of experience working with healthcare and educational nonprofit institutions in Los Angeles, with a focus on building major and planned giving programs, engaging volunteer leadership, and managing successful fundraising campaigns. Previously, Sharon held senior development roles at the Library Foundation of Los Angeles, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, PUENTE Learning Center, and the California Science Center Foundation.
Sharon holds a bachelor of arts in English literature from the University of California, Los Angeles and a master of public administration from California State University, Northridge with a specialization in nonprofit management. She also earned the designation as a Certified Specialist in Planned Giving from California State University, Long Beach. She is the mother of two boys, an avid reader, and an active volunteer at her son’s elementary school.
