Courtney A. Kemp is a highly regarded creator, showrunner, and producer in the television industry.
Courtney is the mind behind Starz’ critically acclaimed gritty New York drama “Power.” The series marks her debut as a creator and showrunner and follows the complex character James “Ghost” St. Patrick and his empire.
Under Courtney’s leadership, the series doubled viewership from its premiere episode to its season one finale and generated the largest concentration of African American viewership of any scripted premium series in almost a decade. By the time the second season wrapped, “Power” drew a record 6.3 million viewers each week, making it the network’s most highly watched original series at the time.
The show continues to shatter its previous records, as its season three premiere episode raked in 2.26 million live viewers, establishing it as the best original series season debut. In addition, the episode became the most-watched episode of any Starz original series to date. Fresh off the season three premiere success, Starz announced the renewal of “Power” for season four and five—Courtney is set to return. Production on season four begins this fall.

She also worked on ABC’s “Eli Stone,” and Fox’s “Justice,” and “The Bernie Mac Show,” among others.
