Rev. Rudy Rubio is husband to Edna, father to Gabby, Esteban, Diego, Natalia, and papa (grandpa) to Isabella. He serves as pastor with the Reformed Church of LA (RCLA) in Lynwood, and chaplain at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Hospital.
Rev. Rubio is passionate about community-building, church planting, and sharing the true meaning of the gospel in South LA because of his experiences growing up here. He was raised in the streets of Huntington Park, South Central, and Watts where he was involved with gangs from a young age.
In addition to his pastoral and family duties, Rev. Rubio is an active blogger, host of “Hood Grace Podcast,” and chaplain to the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Rev. Rubio earned his Master of Divinity degree from Western Theological Seminary in Holland, Michigan, and is currently working on his doctorate there. He hopes to one day train seminary students how to plant churches in under-resourced communities.
