Medicare is the federal health insurance program for people who are 65 years or older, as well as for certain younger people with disabilities and people with End-Stage Renal Disease. Americans already on Social Security typically get Medicare automatically; others have to sign up for it. You can learn how to enroll and what types of benefits you get at medicare.gov.

If you're age 64 and signing up for Medicare for the first time, try to join in the 3 months before your 65th birthday or 3 months after. You can also enroll between January 1 and March 31 each year, with benefits starting July 1.
If you're already enrolled in Medicare but want to make a change in your plan, the Medicare Annual Election Period is from October 15 to December 7. The Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period is from January 1 to March 31. If you're enrolled in a Medicare Advantage Plan, you can switch to a different Medicare Advantage Plan.
You can also make changes to your Medicare Advantage and Medicare prescription drug coverage when certain life events happen, such as a move or loss of coverage. This is called a Special Enrollment Period.
We accept most major Original Medicare, Medicare supplement and Medicare Advantage, and dual-plan (Medi-Cal/Medicare) plans.
