As medical director of the emergency department at Martin Luther King Jr., Community Hospital, Dr. Oscar Casillas leads a staff of board-certified emergency medicine specialists.
Trained at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in Torrance, Dr. Casillas is an attending staff physician in the Emergency Medicine Center at Santa Monica-UCLA Medical Center, where he previously served as emergency medical services/paramedic liaison. He has also served on several hospital committees at Santa Monica-UCLA Medical Center.
Dr. Casillas earned his medical degree at the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine, where he was awarded a National Institutes of Health Summer Research Training Grant. He was also designated a William and Charlotte Cadbury Scholar, a national award that is presented annually to a senior medical student in recognition of outstanding academic achievement, leadership, and community service.
Conversant in Spanish, Dr. Casillas is licensed in California as a physician and has been certified as an Advanced Cardiac Life Support Provider, a Pediatric Advanced Life Support Provider, and a Basic Trauma Life Support Provider. He received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Southern California (USC).
A southern California native, Dr. Casillas lives in Mar Vista with his wife and four children. He is vice president of the board for North Venice Little League and has volunteered as an assistant coach for high school varsity football, baseball, and softball teams.
