Social work internship program
Partnerships
MLKCH has built partnerships with local universities including Cal State University Los Angeles and Cal State University Long Beach. This partnership offers second year MSW students the opportunity to learn the craft of medical social work from our highly skilled team.

Opportunities
The hospital environment provides some of the most competitive, challenging and rewarding internship opportunities for interns pursuing their graduate degrees in social work.

- Interns will be given the opportunity to work with vulnerable, medically complex and culturally diverse patients. This will allow interns will expand their clinical skills, interact with a multi-disciplinary team of professionals and participate in patient care and assessment.
- Interns will be assigned to a field instructor and a preceptor who will work together to support them as they navigate through the complex world of medical social work.
