Homeless Services

Our hospital employs a Homeless Services Liaison, as well as Community Health Workers, who are dedicated to supporting those MLKCH patients experiencing homelessness. Our Homeless Team provides direct referrals to:

  • Public agencies
  • Homeless organizations that provide direct linkages to permanent housing
  • Emergency shelter beds
  • Recuperative care centers (including the on-campus Recuperative Care Center, see below)
  • Independent and transitional living homes

Our Homeless Team also attends community meetings and forums to bring back important information, updates, and initiatives in the homeless services industry. It is through these meetings and community relationships that MLKCH has been able to effectively refer homeless patients to community based programs working to decrease homelessness in South LA.

Our Homeless Team also provides hygiene kits and clothing and provides transportation escort services to all homeless patients returning to their shelters, recuperative cares, and transitional livings.
