Compensation and Benefits 

Effective July 1, 2026

MLK Community Healthcare is proud to support our residents with a competitive compensation and benefits package designed to promote well-being both inside and outside of residency training. 

Meal stipend
$200 paid biweekly (taxable income) 

Housing stipend 
$12,000 annually, paid biweekly (taxable income)

Student loan reimbursement
Up to $5,000 per academic year for eligible residents

Time Off & Leave

  • 32 days of paid time off (PTO) 

    • Four weeks (160 hours) of vacation are scheduled at the beginning of each academic year 
    • Remaining PTO used for personal days, holidays, and sick days 
    • Additional leaves of absence are available in accordance with MLKCH policies

  • Free Parking at MLKCH Sites 
    • Complimentary Valet parking is available at MLK Community Hospital
  • EV Charging stations are available at MLK Community Hospital
     

Licensure & Certifications

  • California medical license reimbursement (Postgraduate Training License (PTL), Physician’s and Surgeon’s License, and license renewals)
  • ACLS and BLS certification
  • USMLE/COMLEX Step 3 reimbursement
     

Educational Resources

  • Up to $1,500 annually for educational expenses and conference attendance 
  • UWorld (USMLE Step 3/COMLEX 3) 
  • MKSAP (three-year subscription)
