Dr. Kitae (Kevin) Park believes strongly in the mission of MLK Community Healthcare and is committed to training those who also believe that, with dedication and innovation, great things are possible, even in a disadvantaged community.  A former U.S. Marine Corps Corporal, he believes in fostering an “Adapt and Overcome” mentality in his students that will prepare them to become the physician leaders of the future.

Why were you drawn to working at MLKCH or what makes you want to stay long terms at MLKCH?

I was drawn to MLKCH because of the mission and values of the organization.

What are some essential values you would like to pass on to the residents joining MLK?

Compassion and commitment are essential values that I would like to pass on to our residents.

What type of physicians would you hope our residents would become?

I hope that our residents become physicians that are innovative and committed to patient care.

What differentiates MLK from other residency program?

One thing that stands out about MLKCH is the dedication and commitment of our staff and physicians to the mission of the hospital.

How will our residency program benefit the community of South Los Angeles?

The residency program will train physicians to be able to deliver care specific to the community it serves.  Understanding the specific demands and learning to navigate around complex medical, social and economic issues will elevate the care that is delivered to our community members.

What do you do outside of practicing medicine, to stay healthy – physically, mentally, emotionally?

Outside of medicine, I enjoy spending time with my family.

Where did you grow up?

Los Angeles.
