“The world has lost a man of great wisdom and humor.”

 Dr. Elaine Batchlor

Ian Morrison joined the Board of Directors for MLK Community Healthcare in 2014 as a healthcare futurist, an observer and analyst of systems and trends who believed that healthcare should work for people at all levels of society.  He was a highly sought commentator in the media, a leader with healthcare nonprofits and a strategist whose candor and insightful thinking was valued by government leaders, CEOs and boards of directors of Fortune 500 companies.

Throughout Ian’s long career, from his service as president of the Institute for the Future to his leadership of Health Futures Forums throughout Asia and North America, he taught that while change was inevitable, managing change could—and must—bring us back to our values.  He showed us where we were failing and how we might plan for a better future.

Most of all, Ian was deeply committed to MLKCH.  He believed in our capacity to succeed. Even his most alarming predictions were tempered with a wit that helped us focus on solutions.  Ian wore his Scottish roots proudly, as at ease in conversations about golf as he was about healthcare.  We will miss his guidance.  We will miss his presence among us.  We will cherish his vision for our community.

The family has kindly requested that, in lieu of flowers, gifts be made to MLK Community Healthcare in Ian’s memory. Your generosity will honor his legacy and support a meaningful cause.
